Bilinguals say: Modelling microparametric variation in early and late bilingualism
Theoretically, the goal of this project is to model the syntactic ‘mistakes’ (i.e., productions of deviant structures) of early and late bilinguals in the light of Rizzi’s (2017) understanding of the parameters of Movement and Spell Out.
Concretely, we aim at using our results (and those of many colleagues working on the topic) to ease the integration of late bilinguals in (minimally) the British and Chinese societies.
The first target populations will be the following:
The study of other populations will follow when the modelling of the observed microparametric variations is done for the above cited populations.
The webpage of the project is under construction; we plan on launching it soon.
